How to get the “perfect” shot?

Honestly? There’s no such thing 🙂 My clients come to me not for “perfect” shots, but for real, expressive, emotional, alive portraits. In my photos, you are a unique personality. Not a polished doll. That kind of overly edited photography is simply not my style.

I create images full of energy—shots that draw you in, that make you stop and look again, that stay with you. That’s my specialty as a portrait and lifestyle photographer.

What is the preparation process for a shoot?

Every strong image begins with careful preparation. Once we connect, set the date, and secure the booking with retainer, we begin co-creating: concept, location, wardrobe, makeup, hairstyle, and mood. The final result includes photos, and often video.

Acquaintance

Every project begins with a message—whether by email, Instagram, WhatsApp, or a request form on my website. That’s when our journey begins. We discuss the concept, goals, pricing, and possible dates. Then I always suggest a video call. Nothing replaces live conversation.

Location

We usually begin with the location—most often choosing between two options: city streets or beach. Both offer completely different energies, and I love both. City shoots are dynamic, stylish, full of urban rhythm, fashion-forward outfits, and elegant backdrops. Beach shoots are softer, more relaxed, and deeply sensual. If you’re dreaming of vacation-style photography with natural light and soulful energy, then the beach might be perfect for you.

Looks

The next step is wardrobe, clothing and accessories. You can either work with a stylist from my trusted team. Or the simpler scenario is that we select images from your existing closet. In my practice, I use both approaches. Either way, we’ll aim for fashion-forward, intentional, camera-ready outfits. Great fashion photoshoots start with strong style. That’s why I always recommend working with a stylist if you’re open to it.

Makeup and Hairstyle

As a professional makeup and hair artist, I usually do the makeup myself—on location. Hair is trickier, so I often come to your home for styling. During the shoot, I can adjust makeup and hairstyle to match different looks. In just a few hours, we’ll create diverse, editorial-quality images. And honestly—if you don’t tell your friends they’re from the same session, they’ll never guess.

Moodboard

Moodboards are a key part of our prep. Usually, I suggest my vision with a curated selection of photo references. You’ll share your feedback—and your own ideas, if you have them—and together we’ll shape the concept. This is how our fashion photo shoot takes form, step by step.

Photoshoot

Every photoshoot is one-of-a-kind. Weather is unpredictable in Portugal, so we often plan two dates—a main day and a backup.

Your energy matters most. If you want to convey strength and joy but feel low inside, the camera sees it. And so do I. My job is to tune in, connect, and help bring the real you forward. That’s how we create photos you’ll love for years.

We spend the entire day together—from coffee and makeup to outfit changes, shooting, and post-shoot hugs. It’s not just a session. It’s a day in your life—a colorful, emotional, transformative experience.

Photo Selection and Editing

In most cases, I select the photos myself. That’s why you hire me as a professional photographer—to trust my vision. My style has earned magazine features and covers around the world. And no, I don’t dramatically change faces or bodies. I believe in natural beauty, and my goal is to make you fall in love with yourself in the photos.

Every image I deliver is carefully chosen and edited with love and pride. My greatest joy is when both you and I are happy with the result.

Video

My husband and I work together on every shoot. He’s not only my love, but also my director, manager, marketer, and most importantly—my trusted videographer. When you book a session with me, you can also include video. Photo and video have different energies. Together, they tell your story in depth.
