Why professional dating profile photos matter

You only get one chance to make a first impression! ❤️ Dating apps have become the most common way people meet these days. According to statistics, most relationships now begin through platforms like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Feeld, Happn, Badoo or Facebook Dating. A great profile photo is your most powerful tool. It should say: “I’m attractive, interesting, confident, modern.” A professional photoshoot gives you not just high-quality visuals, but also a sense of confidence and personal style – and that’s already half the success.

What kinds of photos actually work

Your photos should feel real – no fakeness, awkward posing, or over-editing. People want to believe what they see. When they meet you, they should recognize you instantly – and hopefully be pleasantly surprised that you’re even more captivating in person.

Here’s what really works:

• Clear headshots showing your face and smile. These are your main photos
• Full-body images to show your posture, physique, and style
• Lifestyle shots that highlight your personality: daily life, hobbies, travel, aesthetics
• Photos taken in natural environments: city streets, the beach, a walk, or any other vibrant location

What to avoid in dating profiles

• Mirror selfies or low-quality phone pics
• Group photos where it’s unclear which one is you
• Sunglasses, hats, or clothing that hides your face or body
• Heavy editing or filters – don’t retouch yourself beyond recognition
• Blank or stiff expressions
• Pretending to be someone you’re not. The camera doesn’t lie! If you’re a calm introvert, don’t try to look like an edgy alpha. If you’re bold and active lady, don’t fake being shy and demure. The most magnetic photos come when you’re simply being yourself!

Preparing for the shoot: how it all works

By the day of the shoot, we’ll likely have already met online to talk through ideas, locations, styling, and outfits. I’ll prepare a moodboard with references so we’re on the same page visually.

I’ll also be your personal stylist – helping select looks, accessories, and overall vibes. I’ll advise what to wear, what to buy, or how to style pieces from your own wardrobe. And if you’d like to go further, I work with an amazing professional stylist who can prepare full looks for you or with you.

As you can see in my portfolio, I shoot outdoors with natural light – Portugal’s sun, textures and colors are ideal for this kind of work. Beaches, narrow alleys, charming courtyards – no white studio walls or plastic backdrops. This is the mega-trend: natural, candid, real.

Shoot day

You’re well-rested, looking great, feeling positive. And remember – this isn’t an exam, you’re allowed to breathe 🙂 The vibe is easygoing. I’ll guide you with poses, show you where to stand, what to do with your hands. I’ll catch the light, the emotion, the real you. We work as a team, like in a dance – it’s important to remember that a great result is created by both of us, not just by one. The result is a beautiful, polished, professional shoot.

After the shoot

I’ll select the best shots. You did come to me for my vision, right? Occasionally I offer extended previews for client selections, but that’s not the standard. What matters is variety: different angles, moods, and outfits. Often we shoot across several locations and contrasting styles so the final photos feel like they come from entirely different sessions.

Retouching will be subtle: just enough to refine – but aiming for the most beautiful, natural ideal possible. Light, colors, skin, posture, minor distractions. Within 1–2 weeks, you’ll receive a carefully curated set of stylish images – and likely a wave of new matches, meaningful conversations, and exciting connections.

Light

Natural sunlight creates genuinely stunning images with glowing skin. If you’re looking to capture expressive portraits, I highly recommend the beach as a primary location. It gives you full flexibility to work with your model. For example, in jewelry shoots, the sun becomes your best ally – especially during the golden hour when it enhances the sparkle of earrings, rings, and necklaces.
Even when the sun hides behind clouds, it’s not a disadvantage. Cloudy skies produce soft, even lighting, which works beautifully for commercial, stylish shots. This aesthetic is also highly valued in the fashion world.

Shade

Yes, shade can be your secret weapon on a sunny day. Sometimes, models find it difficult to work under direct light—they squint or strain their facial expressions, which is often a physiological response. In such cases, we have two options: sunglasses or shooting in the shade.
Shade in a garden, on the beach, or in the city—there are plenty of options. And the results may surprise you: soft, stylish shots with no harsh shadows or contrast. I often shoot bold colors—like fuchsia—in shaded areas, such as near cliffs. These images rarely require complex retouching afterward.
Additionally, if you’re photographing a large collection on a hot day, shade is a great way to give your model a break.

Locations

One of the biggest benefits of outdoor shoots is the variety of backdrops and scenery. Imagine a brand needing 30 looks photo shot in a day, showcasing both street style and beach vibes. In a studio, the variety is limited—maybe 3 to 5 lighting setups and a neutral background. Outdoors, the possibilities are nearly endless.
One of our favorite all-purpose spots is the town of Santa Cruz, not far from Lisbon. We always plan in advance which outfits go where. Pastel, elegant dresses work beautifully against classic Portuguese architecture. Bold looks shine on colorful streets. Dark, dramatic dresses belong among the rocks. And flowing summer outfits look best by the ocean.

Freedom and Energy

Outdoor shoots are a creative adventure—and sometimes a challenge. Weather can be unpredictable. Shooting swimsuits in January? That’s a real test. But when you deliver stunning results, it’s all worth it.
The beach is one of my favorite spots. The ocean breeze, golden-pink sunset light, and wind catching the dress—these elements create a true sense of freedom. When I ask a model to run along the shoreline, magic happens. You can’t recreate that in a studio. And it’s not just about the model’s skills. Everything around you—light, wind, sand, the vibe—makes the shot unique. That’s why I love what I do!

Authenticity

Poses, emotions, movement, storytelling—all of it comes naturally with space. Outdoor shoots let you tell a real story.
A girl hailing a cab, reading a book in the park, sipping lemonade at the beach—every scene offers potential for a powerful, lively image. I often brainstorm narratives and ideas with my clients, avoiding cookie-cutter front-side-back shots. Models feel like actresses in a film because everything around them is real.
These days, audiences crave stories, emotion, and natural imagery. And that’s exactly what I aim to create in my sessions.

Imperfect Beauty

This point deserves special attention. I always tell clients upfront: you won’t get the same controlled, flawless look as in a studio. And as tech folks say—it’s a feature, not a bug)) Hairstyles depend on the wind. Dresses might move in unexpected ways. Lighting follows the sun’s position. But that’s where the magic lies. A living, breathing frame. Wind tousling the hair, the model closing her eyes to feel the sun… Or she is running along the beach, skimming the water… Each of those moments becomes a piece of art, crafted by nature and human vision. Cropping

Cropping is the easiest and fastest way to make an ordinary photo more interesting. Take any finished photo and try different cropping options. As an example, I will show you one of the images from my photo shoot in Lisbon. On the left is the original, and on the right is the cropped photo. As you can see, this technique shifts the focus of the viewer’s attention to the photo. As a reward, this picture was published in Photo VOGUE.

Shooting Angle

At a master class, I heard a famous photographer give some good advice: if you want to attract attention, shoot in a way that the human eye cannot see. In other words, an ordinary person and a photographer can see the same object in a frame differently. A professional’s job is to show the ordinary in an unusual and beautiful way. When I shoot an editorial, I have a lot of time to experiment. I really dance around the model, and she moves, too. There are two techniques. The first is to take a lot of shots, trying to get that one masterpiece, catching the right split second. The second is to try to repeat a specific reference. Personally, I prefer the first method because it gives me more chances to show my personal ideas. Also, brands really like those shots. My clients often ask me to take several art shots in addition to static ones. Because emotion and uniqueness attract attention and sell.

Color correction

In recent years, color has played a key role in fashion photography. Even the simplest shot can be perceived differently if you choose the right color. As an exclusive photographer, I can spend several hours choosing the right hue and tone. When I do projects for brands, it is very important to adhere to the classic style of color correction to preserve the true colors of the client’s products – clothes, shoes, accessories or jewelry. But fashion editorial is an opportunity to be creative and find something unique. Often, even in the planning stage of the shoot, I think about the color tonality of my final shot, taking into account the location, the light, and the image for the model.

Wide Angle

Since I bought and started using a wide-angle lens, my view of the frame has completely changed. I know that many classic photographers are afraid of such lenses. Yes, there is a risk of making something not very nice, or too distorted. I would not recommend using this lens for classic lifestyle photography. But if you are looking for inspiration and are willing to experiment in fashion photography, a wide-angle lens is the right choice. I use this technique most often for editorials. I shoot portraits as well as full-body shots. This is the world of my inner aesthete. So let me show you a series of shots taken with a wide-angle lens.

Shots in movement

Most of the time, a photo series lacks shots that convey the model’s movement and energy. One of the easiest ways is to ask the model to walk. In this case, you can stay in one place and change the angle of the shot. The second way is to move together with the model. The third is a chaotic movement of both the camera and the model. My favorite are shots where the horizon is tilted and the model is actively moving. This technique gives the viewer a unique feeling of a shot at the moment.

Brand objectives

This photo shoot was made to present the new spring-summer collection. The main idea was to show the active leisure of friends who spend their vacation exploring Portugal. Naturally, the shoot was done with professional models – three guys and one girl. The key aspect of the project was that the photos had to tell different micro-stories and not just show beautiful people in stylish clothes and shoes. The second important wish of the client was to show the maximum elements of clothing and accessories in the frame – from branded shoes to sunglasses. For this reason, most of the shots are full-body shots. The 60 megapixels of our photos allowed to enlarge the resulting images 2-4 times without losing quality when the client wanted to show specific details.

Preparation and Process

Behind every shoot there is a large team and a lot of work. This shoot involved over 15 people – the production agency, stylists, makeup artists, assistants, photographer and videographer, as well as the client’s team. Our involvement began long before the shoot itself, with online meetings with the Woodland’s Indian creative agency and production. We spent several weeks discussing the logic and ideas of the shoot in detail, participating in the selection of locations and models. Before the shoot, we spent several days together on location scouting, visiting all the locations and selecting specific spots. This preparation ensured that every minute of the shoot was effectively used to realize a defined photographic idea.

First day of shooting

For the first day, a beautiful authentic mansion (“quinta” in Portuguese) from the 17th century in the suburbs of Porto with a large territory, a beautiful old garden and a swimming pool was chosen. According to the idea, all the shots showed the emotions of the friends and their vacation in this quinta.

Second day of shooting

For the second day, we chose the central streets of Porto, having previously obtained a legal permit from the city council. Of course, shooting in the middle of the tourist season is quite a challenge! But the talent of a photographer is to find the right spots and the right angles, so that later even colleagues ask: “But I know what crowds there are! How did you manage to show the empty space?..” That day we were very lucky with the sunny weather. The shots came out vivid and really interesting. As we like to say, the viewer must believe in the reality of what he sees in the photo.

The result

Big shoots are mini lifes, lived by the whole team. The result was more than 20,000 photos that we delivered to the Indian production. The Woodland clients were very satisfied with the work. The finished shots of this campaign adorned top billboards and 450 brand stores across India. It was a pride to see our work on the brand’s website and social networks. And our models have become celebrities in India! 🙂

What is RAW and why is it important?

RAW files contain the maximum amount of information about the photo – light, shadows, colors, and textures. They are a blueprint that allows us to preserve the image’s full potential for further processing. Unlike the JPEG format, which already contains compressed data, RAW remains “raw,” keeping all the details that can be manually adjusted.

This makes RAW indispensable for professional retouching, giving me as a retoucher maximum control over the image.

What should you consider when choosing good RAW images?

When reviewing RAW images, remember that retouching can fix a lot of imperfections. Here’s what to look for and what not to look for.

✓ What to pay attention to:

✓ General composition of the image. This is difficult or impossible to correct in post-production. Pay attention to how the objects and characters look in the frame. Does the model’s pose, clothing, and accessories look good, are there any unwanted distortions?

✓ The general appearance of the model. If you are doing a photo shoot for a clothing, shoe, or accessory brand, check how they look in the frame. It is almost impossible to fix an ill-fitting dress, wrinkled fabric texture, partially covered details, or objects.

✓ Emotions, facial expressions. Lively, natural emotions or the right facial expression are often more important than any technical perfection. If the person in the photo looks alive and natural, that image has more potential than emotionless or “squeezed” shots.

✓ Focus on important elements. One of the most important details is sharpness where it is really needed (e.g. face, eyes, clothing, etc.). If the focus is significantly blurred, it is impossible to correct it during retouching.

✓ General Light and Shadows. The light on your subject must be well distributed, even if it appears flat or too contrasty in RAW. Images taken in good lighting conditions allow me, as the retoucher, to have more control over the result.

✘ What you shouldn’t pay attention to:

✘ Colors. The color rendition in RAW may be far from ideal – the frame may look cold, warm, dark, light, gray, or, on the contrary, oversaturated. This is completely normal. I will adjust the white balance, saturation, and all color accents according to your request.

✘ Frame tilt, horizon, cropping. Thanks to the most modern photographic equipment that I use, the frame size is very large. It can be cropped later by two or three times and it will still be completely suitable for use online or for printing. In most cases, I give clients uncropped frames so that they can crop them later for any format and task.

✘ Minor defects in skin, clothing, or background details. Spots on the skin, small wrinkles, random folds of clothing, glare, minor background elements – all this can be corrected or eliminated.

✘ Lighting issues (excessive shadows or highlights). If a shot seems too light or dark, it’s okay. Due to the rich dynamic range of RAW files, many details can be recovered even in difficult lighting conditions. Excessive shadows or highlights can be corrected by refining the image.

✘ Color noise and sharpness in the shadows. If you see noise (graininess) in the shadows or dark areas, this is usually not a problem. Special tools allow me to reduce the noise level, and details in the shadows can be recovered. The main thing is that it should not affect the key elements of the frame.

Final editing: what happens?

After you have selected the shots you like, I do the final retouching.

✎ This is what happens in the post-processing stage:

✎ Exposure and light correction. At this stage, I balance the light and dark areas of the image, removing overexposure and adding details in the shadows. This makes the image more voluminous and pleasing to the eye.

✎ Color Correction. White balance, saturation, color tones – all can be adjusted to suit your needs. As a retoucher, I can make the colors more natural or, conversely, create an unusual color scheme, depending on what you want.

✎ Skin and background cleaning. Skin defects and unnecessary objects in the background are removed, irregularities and small folds in clothing are corrected, the horizon is leveled or, conversely, curved. My main task is to make the skin look natural and avoid the “plastic” effect.

✎ Detailing and Accents. In the final stage, I accentuate the necessary details – eyes, hair, clothing textures – to make the subject more expressive.

As a result

RAW is the basic material that I work with as an exclusive photographer, bringing it to perfection in the process of retouching. The main thing when selecting photos for you is to pay attention to composition, emotion, and focus, and not to temporary flaws such as imperfect colors, minor skin defects, or fallen horizon. After your selection, I will make them expressive, stylish, and professional.

The brand’s objectives

Objectives for the shoot included capturing 26 looks with two models, with both photo and video content. The client wanted the shots to combine elegance with trendiness. Each look required special attention to the details of the bridal dress.

Models

Finding models for a wedding dress shoot is a unique challenge. The main requirement was that the model should be tall and have classic beauty and charisma. During the preparation phase, the brand owner and I reviewed numerous models from different modeling agencies in Portugal. Finally, we chose two stunning ladies to be the faces of the new collection. 

Location

We suggested a selection of beaches from our top list for this brand shoot. The client selected our Santa Cruz beach as the most diverse and unique. The textures, views, and variety of locations for specific shots and angles influenced the decision. 

Shooting day

26 dresses for two models may not seem like a lot, but there’s a nuance – these were wedding dresses. It takes at least 20-30 minutes to put on a dress, adjust the train, and check the hair and makeup. After that, it’s important to choose the right location, position the model, and do the classic full-body, half-body, and detail shots. After the basic shots are taken, we move on to more creative, dynamic shots with accessories, etc. These shots can highlight the mood and style of the brand more than the product itself. The shooting started early at 6 a.m. with make-up and hair styling for the models and preparation of the clothes. And ended after sunset at 8 p.m.

Photo selection and retouching

In this case, we allow the client to select the final images for retouching. Often, only the creator can see all the small details and nuances of their products in the frame. This workflow means that I, as the photographer, send the client the top pre-selected shots from each look. From there, they choose 5-10 photos per look, depending on our agreement. And also we made 27 videos for all dresses and a main collection announcement.

Beauty alone is not enough to become a successful model. Over the years of working as a fashion photographer, I have seen a lot of beautiful guys and girls. But not all of them got results. The secret is that the way of a model is a real race. The modern world is full of talented, beautiful, and smart models. Many of them only dream of world fame and working with top brands. Others get a job, raise their price, and keep climbing.

Sometimes it only takes one or two projects to make you shine like a top model. But to get those projects, you have to get noticed. Every potential employer evaluates models based on their portfolio. So tell me, how cool is your portfolio? Does it showcase you and make you stand out from thousands of others?

The main secret of a cool modeling portfolio

The global modeling market has changed a lot in recent years. Nowadays, brands are looking for more than just a beautiful face or body. They want to hire the personality. That is why your portfolio should have photos showing who you are. Your energy, your character, your temperament, your charisma. This is what makes you stand out.

The next question is how to take such photos. In my opinion, as a photographer, the most important thing is the energy in your eyes. Yes, the pose is also important. And the general look. But it is your eyes that always convey your strength, your character, and your unique charisma.

I admit, it’s not enough to just come and take some portraits to get such shots. In my practice, top shots require two to three hours of collaboration with the model. During this time, we establish a rapport and reveal the models’ strongest character traits. As we work, I always show the model the resulting images. These images inspire her, increase her confidence, and motivate her to pose and live in the frame. And the result of such a shoot is exactly those million-dollar photos. Where you can see the model’s energy and character. In such photos, the strength of the personality is so manifest that people stop looking at them immediately, without even understanding what attracted them. These are the images from my portfolio that most often appear on the covers of fashion magazines.

Photos that sell

 I have seen many beautiful models over the years of working as a fashion photographer. Some of them are proud of their beautiful eyes, some of them have wonderful hair, and some of them are the lucky owners of long legs. You can list their advantages for a long time. But the irony is that you won’t always see these exact accents in their portfolios.

One day, a model with an amazingly beautiful figure came to my shoot. And when I asked her what she was most proud of, she said: “I have beautiful legs.” But in her portfolio on the agency’s website, there were almost no full-length photos. Strange, but true. This girl’s portfolio contained many beautiful portraits, sitting shots, and other shots where clothing or posing completely hid her legs. This is one of thousands of examples in my practice.

I say all this so that you think about your uniqueness. Determine what exactly sets you apart from thousands of others. And make a shoot where every frame screams about it. If you have beautiful and unusual hair, focus on images to highlight this. If you have a beautiful smile, show it through emotions. Long legs will be emphasized in full-length shots.

I’ll tell you a little secret – not all models know their strengths. Often they consider themselves beautiful, cute, but nothing more. One of the tasks of a professional photographer is to help reveal personality through cool shots. My favorite phrase from models after a shoot is “Oh God, is that really me in the photo?” This means that we have reached a new level. And I am sincerely proud of such shots.

The brand came to us with the brief to shoot a spring-summer clothing collection. We organized the entire project on a turnkey basis – from the idea, model and location to the retouched photographs. 

Brand objectives: 20 looks, one model, bright and colorful pictures, a location in a classic Portuguese style, combining typical local architecture and the ocean beach beauty. 

The model. Over the years we have built up a personal list of the best models we have worked with. For our clients, we prepare recommendations and detailed information with examples of shots from the model’s portfolio. Such a document makes it easy for the client to choose the woman or man who best fits the brand’s style.

Location. For this shoot, we offered the client several options. The brand chose Santa Cruz, a small coastal town 70km from Lisbon. For us, this is one of the most beautiful and authentic places. As we are lucky to live here, so we know the place very well and were delighted with the client’s decision. 

Photographic style. One of the clients’ wishes was to take sunny, bright, and colorful photographs. Firstly, they have a lot of bright fabrics in their collection. Secondly, they wanted the photos to capture the spirit of the sunny summer coast. In addition, the brand supported the idea of combining both fashion style and smiling photos. This mix is one of the latest trends in the world of commercial photography.

Any brand needs to remember that their product is sold by the whole picture “model – clothes – accessories – emotion – location”. The main test of a successful photograph is whether the viewer sincerely believes in the reality of what is happening in it. Photography should be filled with real life, not plastic, staged poses. 

Here is an example of a look that each client receives after the shoot. As you can see, each dress is shown from different angles. Shoppers can easily see what the outfit looks like from the front and the back, different details, the texture of the fabric. In addition, each photo has a certain emotion and mood. At the client’s request, we took mostly vertical photos and only a few horizontal ones for web banners.

An example of shots that combine several elements well – is the brand’s colorful dresses and Portugal. Of course, the dress is the main element when shooting a collection for the brand. But we always remember that the client is coming to Portugal, so authentic landscapes and architecture should also be visible in the frame.

As we said, one of the client’s wishes was to create fashion-style shots. And these are the special emotions of the model, the color correction, the poses, and the energy of the frame. All these components helped us to do our job perfectly.

Of course, the most noticeable emotion in a picture is a smile. At the client’s request, we created some of the looks with joyful emotions to match the clothes.

The final stage of the project was to shoot on the beach in the golden, soft light. Our favorite beach in Santa Cruz was perfect for this. Together with the client, we decided to shoot dark dresses, as well as dresses with a special brand pattern.

Where to start preparing for a shoot in Portugal?

Most people come to Portugal to shoot on the beaches of the ocean, with its breathtakingly beautiful light. Or for the original beauty of our Iberian cities with their authentic details.

If you come to Lisbon, we are happy to offer you one of the most beautiful beaches near the city. Rocks, textures, shades from yellow to black, a flat beach, or one with steep slopes and views, there is a choice for everyone. Each beach is unique and famous for its elements.

If you want the city in the frame, we offer you the streets of the historic part of Lisbon for stylish street style shots. Beautiful views, recognizable sights of the old Portuguese capital, spacious squares and small cozy streets are perfect for brand photography.

There is another kind of urban places. We call it our cozy, sweet, beautiful Portugal. This is a mix of colorful authentic locations, and beautiful small buildings surrounded by local scenery. We know many small towns and villages ideal for this type of filming. Usually, there are fewer people and less hustle and bustle in such places, making it easy and quick to take photos and videos. One of the advantages of such small towns is access to the beach. For example, one of the most popular places is Santa Cruz. You will find beautiful, colorful streets and a unique, huge beach here. We know this place better than anyone because we live here.

Over the years of working in Portugal, I have created my personal list of models with whom I have made successful shoots. Let’s look at the difference between lifestyle photography and fashion photography. And is it possible to combine these two styles?

The Model

After agreeing on the mood board, choosing the model is one of the most important stages. In the fashion world, the types of models can mainly be divided into lifestyle, strong face and those who can work in both styles. If the brand’s task is to create a beautiful, sweet story about a girl in a blooming garden, of course, we choose a cute model with soft energy and a beautiful smile. If the task is minimalist fashion, then we need a model with strong energy who can make a super shot just by looking at the camera.

Filming Location

Outfit

When I talk about outfit, I mean the whole finished look – makeup, clothes, shoes, accessories. For example, the simplest dress can easily be transformed into a more stylish outfit with the right glasses and earrings. In addition, the choice of look sets the tone for the choice of location. For example, if a fashion brand wants the most stylish shot possible, but the model is wearing a floral dress, I will always choose a very simple background for harmony and balance. Conversely, if the model is wearing super simple clothes, but I want a fun lifestyle mood, I will find a nice colorful street with a cafe, a table, and a cup of coffee. When private clients come to me for stylish shots, I always advise them to go for simple looks. Strict lines, color, texture, design – they all affect the final image and how it is perceived.

Poses and Emotions

Poses and emotions in the frame are what immediately declare the style. Lifestyle photography includes very natural movements, calm poses, and mood, just like in real life. A fashion photoshoot usually consists of strict, strong, less active poses, where the model declares the character of the brand. As a rule, when I choose a model, I already see and analyze her potential for posing and mood. Lifestyle models always listen to the story and the mood, and then they easily live this story in the frame. Their emotions are bright, lively, and real. Strong-faced models enter the frame and make it happen with their energy alone. Often they don’t even need to pose to set the mood. Even the simplest T-shirt and jeans look expensive and stylish on them. Unlike lifestyle, very strange and unusual poses are acceptable for a fashion shoot.

Shooting Style

In my portfolio, you will often see low-point shots, wide angles, curved shots that convey rhythm and movement. I love to experiment. This allows me to set the tone and mood for each story. When discussing a mood board before a shoot, I always ask the client what their expectations are. Do they want smooth, classic shots that follow all the brand rules? Or are they open to unusual angles and experiments? Lately, even classic, conservative brands are asking for a mix. For example, we do 80% of the “right” shots and 20% for experiments and my ideas (and often the client picks them after!). Every shoot for a brand has a basic part where we shoot the core content – full body, front-left-right, half body, details. After this part, the so-called mood or art photography begins. These shots are outside the rules. I love them the most!

Post-processing

The same photo can be processed in completely different colors, styles, and moods. Lifestyle photography usually uses very natural tones, just like in real life. Unless, of course, the brand has specific color goals. Fashion photography can be an area for experimentation and something more unusual. Black and white photos, one or two key colors in the frame, or vice versa, very bright and saturated colors. But a professional fashion photographer must always remember one important detail. It is important to keep the real colors and shades of the brand’s products in the post-processing. For example, when a customer buys a dress, the photos should not make her think that she buys a purple dress, and then she gets a pink one. I always discuss this nuance with the client. And then I can experiment with all the elements of the frame except my client’s product.

Fashion plus Lifestyle

Is it possible to make a shot that is a moderately cute, beautiful lifestyle, but at the same time expensive and stylish fashion? My answer is yes, of course! One of my dearest clients from Finland came to me with this request. There are a few rules to this kind of shooting. The first is a professional, confident, and beautiful model. Second, a location that gives you the freedom to choose and experiment. Third, outfits, poses, and emotions should complement each other harmoniously. As a result, we created a very stylish shoot that combined lifestyle and fashion. Everyone was really happy with the results!
