Locations
I often call Portugal an “Instagram country.” Whether we’re shooting in Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais, Algarve, Porto, Albufeira, or somewhere else, there’s no shortage of stunning locations for stylish portraits. Since I regularly shoot in all these locations, I know their hidden gems that bring photos to life.
Choosing the right location is one of the most important first steps. Any top photographer will tell you — it sets the tone for the entire photoshoot. Locations fall into four categories: beach, city, indoor, and lifestyle. Each has its own vibe. Let’s explore them.
Beach Photoshoot
I often recommend the beach for private photo sessions. Portugal means ocean — and the ocean means freedom, connection, and duality: calmness and movement all at once. Only at the beach can we create truly sensual and authentic images. No studio or city backdrop compares. Beach energy is ideal if you’re not fully comfortable in front of the camera. I choose spots with minimal crowds so you can fully relax and enjoy the experience. Just be yourself, in the moment — and I’ll capture your happiness.
City Photoshoot
When I want to capture a lively and energetic atmosphere, I suggest a city photoshoot. In Lisbon, for example, I have favorite modern locations perfect for bold, fashion-style photography. I love geometry, clean lines, and the minimalist energy of urban landscapes. City shoots work well for themed sessions — like a story in a cozy café or a walk through a bustling street. Depending on your vision, it can lean toward lifestyle photography or high-fashion editorial.
Interior Photoshoot
Sometimes clients want to shoot in their home, a studio, or another favorite indoor space. Unique interiors make wonderful backdrops for artistic, story-driven photos. These sessions require thoughtful preparation — especially lighting. Even when shooting indoors, I mostly rely on natural sunlight — without using artificial lights, flashes, or extra equipment. It creates the most authentic and flattering atmosphere for my style. And whenever possible, I recommend shooting outdoors. Natural light, fresh air, and open space bring irreplaceable energy — and Portugal offers that almost year-round, with 300 days of sunshine!
Lifestyle City Shoot or Storytelling
A quiet coffee, a walk through the crowd, an intimate moment with someone close — or with yourself. Every wish, every story matters. What counts is being alive and real in the frame. I’ll capture your emotions and freeze them in beautiful, timeless shots.
Project stages with the client
Every private photoshoot is more than just the hours spent shooting and editing. It’s a shared journey — a collaboration that begins the moment we connect. We exchange energy, ideas, and inspiration. We communicate, experiment, and co-create beauty.
Initial Call
Once the project price is confirmed and we officially begin working together, the first step is usually a video call. It helps us get to know each other, align our visions, and build a clear foundation. We’ll discuss every detail — from locations to desired images. I’ll listen to your ideas and offer suggestions based on my experience as a portrait photographer and destination photographer.
Timing
It’s best to book a shoot 1–3 months in advance. If you’re visiting Portugal on a short trip, reach out as early as possible — especially during high season (May to November). Many of my private clients are vacationing here and want to make the most of their time with me as their vacation photographer who truly captures their happy moments. Your booking date is confirmed once a 30% retainer is received.
The Idea
Every shoot starts with a vision. What do you want to see in your final images? What mood, emotion, or vibe? Do you want a relaxed look, or something dynamic and expressive? Will it be an everyday lifestyle shoot, or something with bold fashion flair? You decide. Or we decide together.
Moodboard
Once we define the vision and energy, I create a moodboard. This is a visual collection of reference images that reflect your shoot’s style — colors, fashion, makeup, poses, and atmosphere. You can also find more inspiration on my Pinterest. Just remember: we never copy a moodboard exactly. It’s just a reference. The real art happens in the moment, with you.
Outfits / Looks
For a private shoot, I usually suggest preparing 2–3, maximum 5 outfits. The first should feel light and comfortable. The second and third can be more daring — unusual colors, bold cuts, original pieces that add a fashion photoshoot edge.
You can pick your own looks or follow my suggestions. For best results, you can also work with a professional stylist. I’ll gladly recommend trusted experts I collaborate with.
Makeup and Hair
I still work as a professional makeup and hairstyle artist in small projects. This allows me to craft the complete look, adjusting makeup for each outfit and creating multiple styles within a single shoot. The advantage of this 2-in-1 approach is that I know exactly how the makeup will translate in photos. I focus heavily on portrait photography — beautiful skin, trendy tones, and light, natural makeup are all part of my signature style.
Backstage Photos and Videos
We often capture behind-the-scenes moments during the shoot. These convey the mood and magic of the session better than words. My husband also creates short video clips for reels — perfect for Instagram and social media.
Fashion Magazine Publications
You may have seen my work in fashion and lifestyle magazines — I’ve had over 500 editorial publications. But don’t think only models get featured! Many of my private clients have also been published. One of my proudest recent milestones was being included in Vogue’s best photoshoots. A portrait from a private shoot in the Algarve was featured in PhotoVogue. So your opportunity to be seen and celebrated is real. I never guarantee it and sometimes it becomes a bonus to my clients.
